| Who We Are
HOPE worldwide of canada is a registered non-profit charity, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Our work began in 1993 with one program and has now grown to serve thousands of poor and needy individuals in Canada 's major urban centres. We are affiliated with HOPE worldwide, a non-profit charity, headquartered in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. We share HOPE worldwide 's mission, which is as simple as its name: to bring hope to a hurting world. HOPE worldwide was founded in 1991 with just 3 simple programs and now serves the poor in 75 nations on all six inhabited continents. With over 100,000 committed volunteers, HOPE worldwide annually serves more than 2 million needy people worldwide. Programs in Canada serve disadvantaged children, the homeless, women in at-risk situations and the elderly. Volunteers collect and deliver food baskets to single mothers in need or in shelters during major holiday seasons and a special back to school back-pack is delivered to their children in September. In Toronto, our signature Youth Basketball Program provides mentoring, tutoring and life skills to pre-teen boys and girls. HOPE worldwide is a recognized non-governmental organization in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. HOPE worldwide of canada has been recognized by municipal, provincial and federal governments for its programs and committed volunteer base. The finances and administration of HOPE worldwide of canada and HOPE worldwide are totally separate with no funding of Canadian programs coming from sources outside Canada. The financial statements of HOPE worldwide of canada are audited annually and are available to donors and the public for review. Our work is produced by faith, prompted by love and inspired by hope.
